Traducing- is it Mengumpat?

Found this on facebook this afternoon. It was written on the wall of a famous Ustaz. It was originally written in Malay, but for the purpose of this article, I translated them into English.

Things that require a person traducing others:

1. When other people complain of the injustice against us before the judges and the like and then when that person may be exposed disgrace.

Well, quite straight forward actually. If a wife beats up her husband, we can't just go and tell everyone about it. We can of course tell the police as the people who has the authority, so that action can be taken, in order to save the poor husband's life. The system is perfect, isn't it?

2. When in a meeting, for someone to fix mistakes then we can mention the guilt that came before to help us improve the mistake. We can of course approach this with utmost politeness. So that the person who did the mistake can accept this professionally.

Let's just say that in a post-Mortem meeting for a company event, when in the event, someone had made a mistake that interrupted the event a little bit. The person who did the mistake must be reminded to not repeat the mistake again, while everyone else are also warned to avoid doing the same thing. This however, will involve the reminder to remind the involved party as politely as possible, so that the other party can accept this with open hearts. Shouting (for example) at that person may bring disgrace to the person.

3. When we ask for a fatwa from the mufti then we can mention those errors that are associated with our questions.

Well of course! We can of course leave out the details of the the offender. ^.^

5. When to call a person who has known disgrace, as we call someone who is famous by the name. Example: Crippled Mat, frog, and more.

No comments about this one. please.

6. Citing an offense that is not ashamed to disclose that such evil people who like to drink alcohol in front of the public.

These types of people deserve to be traduced! hahaha~ sape soh wat camtu?? kan?? But, the operative word is "citing"; which according do Merriam Webster, means

transitive verb
1
: to call upon officially or authoritatively to appear (as before a court)
2
: to quote by way of example, authority, or proof
3
a : to refer to; especially : to mention formally in commendation or praise
b : to name in a citation
4
: to bring forward or call to another's attention especially as an example, proof, or precedent

Not as slurs, okie??

Waalahua'lam. I am no expert on these matters, if there are errors in this piece of writing, please do inform me, OK?

There you go boys and girls. I wrote this in hopes that I'd be able to watch what I say more carefully and deliberately. I hope that I could avoid it altogether too!

For more details please see the book Ihya Ulumuddin, Juzuk 3 / 103- I think.

Hoping You Are Well

Firdaus.
